Every dog owner knows just how important a dog’s birthday or gotcha day is. And, because no celebration is complete without a cake, it only makes sense that you need a cake for your dog. We got our paws on not one, not two, but eight different dog birthday cakes and treats to personally taste test (yes, we’re serious...and crazy). As Maryland's dog party experts, dog owners come to us on a weekly basis asking for dog cake and dog bakery recommendations. Here are our honest thoughts on eight different birthday cakes and treats for dogs so that you can plan THE best celebration for your furry best friend.
Best for a Large Dog Party
Lil' Cakes and Creamery is best known for their droolworthy selection of gourmet cupcakes, macaroons, homemade ice cream and human cakes, but they also have a variety of dog cakes and other dog-friendly treats, too! Dog cakes and pupcakes are freshly baked with the finest ingredients. Both pup and parents give it two paws up for quality and presentation! If you are feeling a little wild you can even add on a peanut butter drip, bacon strips and/or milk bones. Lil Cakes also offers mini pupcakes, dog ice cream, full-sized pupcakes and the cutest lil' pupsicles that are all great add-ons to any dog celebration! We were blown away by our peanut butter carrot cake dog cake and may or may not have eaten it for breakfast the next day. PS- cakes are HUGE and very shareable.

Most Unique Dog Cake
Cake and waffles? Yes, please! If you know us well, you know that we loooove sprinkles. KcK9 Waffle Treats owner, Kara, does not disappoint as each cake is bordered with birthday cake waffles (waffles with sprinkles) and then topped with TONS of sprinkles. As a surgical veterinary technician during the week, Kara uses homemade, all-natural and preservative-free ingredients. Choose from a standard waffle cake or have a cake customized - like a Unicorn Cake (the most requested custom cake) for the puppy princesses and princes out there! It is made with Unicorn Magic Waffles, has a unicorn cake topper and covered in unicorn sprinkles. KcK9 also offers cake by the slice and over 30 flavors of dog bone-shaped waffles.

Puppylicious Gourmet customizes any and all treats based on customers’ requests and makes everything from dog donut towers to dog treat bouquets to mini tacos for dogs. Puppylicious Goremet can make a cake for literally any occasion or party theme -- just ask Audrey Pawborn's mom who had a custom Tiffany Blue Box Cake Made for Audrey's first birthday. Puppylicious even offers individual goodie bags as party favors so the puppy party never has to end! Oh, and they make cakes for cats too.

Best For Dogs with Allergies + Sensitive Tummies
Personalized, organic, and local...what more could you want? Bark Organix specializes in making homemade baked-to-order treats for dogs, with ingredients from local farmers markets. Owner and baker, Sasha, started Bark Organix while she was on active duty in the U.S. Navy. You won't find traditional dog cakes here, BUT, they make pupcakes, carob chip cookies, and the most adorable personalized stamped bone treats with coconut "sprinkled" dyed with vegan coloring. All dog goodies are vegan and organic with minimal ingredients-- think carrots, banana, coconut and peanut butter. Sasha also sells very original grooming products and apparel for dog lovers.

Lazy Dog Cookie Company - Original Pup-Pie Dog Treat Cake
Helloooo Amazon Prime. Okay guys, confession. We did not have high expectations for this cake that arrived to our doorstep within 24 hours of ordering. This 6-inch, 10-slice cake smells like gingersnap cookies and has a soft texture and a trusted shelf life. The cakes are vegan, grain-free and dairy-free to boot! Let's just say that this is not the last time we will be ordering this cake. No shame.
